Campfire is an Interactive XR Installation that aims to include the idea of the Campfire into digital culture and thereby explore various types of immersive scenarios and experimental storytelling that challenges the intrinsic relationship between body and mind.The project was funded by Vorbrenner Innsbruck at displayed at Freies Theater BRUX in Innsbruck. We took a close look at the social and cultural aspects of the fire that played role in human evolution. Campfire, was not only a place for storytelling but also a place where human learned to cook and warm, imagine etc. Fire has shaped the social and cultural relationships between human and environment, human and human. The use of fire made us what we are today. We questioned the equivalence of the fire in digital culture. The Campfire Installation is an interactive virtual space that embodies a new type of collective storytelling, constituted by a collection of EEG Scan data that includes objects, animals, secrets, symbols, and stories corresponding to the visitors’ emotions.

First, we have collected stories from people by using EEG Scan that constituted a collective cognition which contains emotions such as Joy, Anger, Confidence, Sadness, Fear and etc. corresponding to 3D objects, sounds, animals, memories and so on. Later on, we used IBM Watson Tone Analyzer for this entity with 350 object and 7 different moods to interact with Twitter posts. The installation revealed the moodscape of twitter posts in forms of spatiotemporal virtual worlds consisting objects. Revealing cognitive activities in forms of new visual storytelling. Therefore, the experience intends to spark new and unexpected forms of communication, dialog, and interaction between people and their environment.
